PPSR does not identify the car’s owners
The official PPSR vehicle-search guidance lists ownership information and ownership history among the things that search does not supply. A certificate with no registered security interest is not proof that the seller owns the vehicle.
RegoLens does not promise previous-owner names, addresses or a complete ownership history. Do not interpret the absence of those details as a missing page from the report.
Use registration records for their stated purpose
Access Canberra describes its public plate enquiry as supplying registration status and some non-identifying information. Other record requests may have identity, eligibility or consent requirements. Use the relevant authority’s official process and read what the result actually establishes.
Do not use a buying enquiry as a way to obtain private information about previous owners. Ask for documents relevant to the transaction and protect any personal details supplied to you.
Build evidence around the actual purchase
Keep the agreed vehicle details, seller information provided for the transaction, sale paperwork and a current PPSR certificate together. Match the VIN across the records rather than relying only on a make, model or plate number.
If ownership or authority remains unclear, pause the purchase and seek appropriate advice for that transaction. Another similar history report cannot turn an unresolved seller question into proof of ownership.
