Car history check: know what your report covers

Check the recorded risks, then fill the gaps with the right inspection and documents. A$10 buys one RegoLens report with no subscription.

What the RegoLens vehicle history report includes

Your purchase includes the original PPSR certificate and a downloadable RegoLens PDF presenting the available findings. Start with a registration plate and state, or enter the full 17-character VIN. Confirm the vehicle before paying.

Has it had every accident recorded? This report does not provide a complete accident or repair history.
Who owned it, or what was its mileage?Owner history, service history and odometer history are not promised as part of this product.

Build a fuller picture of the car

Think of a car history check as one part of a buying file. Put the recorded findings beside a mechanical inspection, the seller’s documents and a service-history review. Each answers a different question.

For example, no recorded security interest does not explain an engine noise or prove a service was completed. Ask for evidence that addresses the issue you actually found, rather than treating one positive result as an answer to everything.

Choose the right check for the question

A rego check concerns registration or vehicle identification. A PPSR check searches for registered security interests. A REVS check is the familiar older term often used for that finance-related search. A VIN check starts with the vehicle identifier rather than relying on its plate.

There are also free official registration and recall checks. Read what a service supplies before deciding whether you need a paid report.

Confirm, purchase and keep the records

The RegoLens report costs A$10 AUD, once. After payment confirmation and a completed search, save both the report and its original PPSR certificate. Check the identifier and search time before relying on the findings. For older vehicles with a shorter chassis identifier, use the official PPSR options rather than changing the identifier to fit our VIN form.
